  • Go on a trip on a historical tram

    For those who feel better on land than on water, Bydgoszcz offers trips by a historical, hundred year old tram, Herbrand.

    The old bimbas (trams) “Herbrand”  travel on a special tourist line "H" from Wilczak to Kapuściska. Great fun for children is a trip by Herbrand, made in Cologne in 1898, with open balconies and the driver dressed in a stylish uniform. 

    When: on Saturdays and Sundays during the vacation season (July-August). The current timetable and route map are available at www.zdmikp.bydgoszcz.pl in the bookmark Timetable (timetable for special lines is available only during the season).

    J.D. Salinger is an American author, best-known for his work, The Catcher in the Rye, published in 1951. However, long before he wrote the book that made him famous, he was just an ordinary student enjoying college and family life.

  • 2015 - The Year of Marian Rejewski

    The Patron of Bydgoszcz in the year 2015 was Marian Rejewski as 2015 marked the 110th anniversary of this outstanding mathematician and cryptographer, who entered this world 16 August 1905 in Bydgoszcz – he lived with his parents at 6 Wilenskiej Street, where today there hangs a memorial plaque.

    Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz

    The Premiere Festival is a national theatre festival organized since 2002 by the Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz. Its repertoire features world premieres of theatre plays.

  • Marian Rejewski bench

    A little bench (designed by Michał Kubiak) of Marian Rejewski  – a famous mathematician and cryptologist, who contributed to the breaking of the code of the German cipher machine ”Enigma” during the Second World War. The monument is located on the corner of Street Gdańska and Śniadeckich.

  • Fountain in the Music District

    The combined dance of light, water and music. Next to the Music District, only 10 min walk from the Old Town. Fountain has electronically controlled nozzles that move to the music. The ‘Water– Light–Sound’ multimedia shows take place in summer time everyday at 21.30 (in May/June only on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays). The shows are accompanied by classical music.
